EventMAP lead the way within Timetabling research and development

May 16, 2022

EventMAP at PATAT 2022 – The 13th International Conference on the Practice and Theory of Automated Timetabling – Leuven, Belgium

The 25th anniversary edition of PATAT was originally intended to be held in Bruges (Belgium) in 2020.  Due to the Pandemic the conference had to be postponed twice until this year. It will now be held in Leuven (Belgium). This is also beautiful Belgian city, and the hometown of KU Leuven (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven).

EventMAP are sponsoring the conference that will run from Tuesday 30th August until Friday 2nd September 2022. It will be at the Irish College, which offers a perfect setting for researchers and practitioners to reflect, present and discuss on the substantial progress made by the timetabling academic community over the last twenty-seven years, as well as to anticipate where we might be headed throughout the coming decades.

To complement this historical reflection and in anticipation of the future, a range of exciting talks will be given by experts in established areas of timetabling as well as newly emerging ones. We look forward to joining everyone with an interest in timetabling or related problems.

Over the last 4 years, since the last such conference, EventMAP has enjoyed a period of considerable success. Our work developing advanced scheduling algorithms has meant that we have been able to use our software applications and expertise to manage, not only the capacity reductions required to accommodate social distancing in the workplace, but also to implement back to work policies as restrictions have lifted. Our work has been utilised to the benefit of a wide variety of corporate and public sector organisations, ranging from media to healthcare, policing, and education. As organisations have moved to online teaching and hybrid working, our research and development activities have helped us equip them to meet some of the challenges these difficult few years have initiated.

Patrick De Causmaecker, Chair and Organiser, said ” We very much appreciate the involvement of a Company who have shown sustained commitment and focus on solving real world timetabling problems through the use of innovative and emerging technologies. The PATAT series of conferences, being at the interface of research and technology, both provides to, and benefits from, this dedicated relationship.”

We are proud that EventMAP has been able to play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between the theory, and practice, of automated timetabling, without which its realisation would not be the same.
