PATAT 2016: The forefront of timetabling research.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with PATAT, it’s a biennial conference that serves as a forum for an international community of researchers, practitioners and vendors of computer-aided timetable generation. It’s where the leading minds of our industry get together to help shape where it’s going and discuss the latest advances in our field.

Eventmap have a longstanding relationship with PATAT – once again, we’re a major sponsor and our Managing Director, Dr. Barry McCollum, is a permanent co-chair. Our involvement helps us to both continue to be at the forefront of research and industry leadership, and help shape the conference’s ongoing development.

What are the benefits for our clients and customers? Simple: academic insights into real-world timetabling issues. PATAT lets us bring universities’ real world timetabling problems in front of some of the field’s leading academics. In this way PATAT forms a crucial interface between the theory of timetabling and its practice on the ground – letting us incorporate the latest academic thinking and research into our development of ever more effective software and consultancy solutions.

This year’s PATAT takes place from 23rd – 26th August in Udine, Italy. The plenary talks and sessions will cover a wide spectrum of all areas of automated timetabling and go far beyond the field of university timetabling – but we’ve always found that incorporating thinking from beyond our immediate purview has enabled us to make some of our best leaps forward. You can find out more at the PATAT website.
