EventMAP partners with Quality Trusted Solutions (QTS) to help streamline and automate ERIC returns for NHS Trusts

We’re partnering with QTS to make a lengthy, involved process much easier.

March 7, 2020

If you talk to any NHS Trust, they’ll tell you that completing their annual ERIC (Estates Return Information Collection) return is lengthy and involved process – comprised of extensive manual data gathering, collation and complex apportionment formulas and calculations that are used to build an overall picture of efficiencies and funding requirements within the NHS.

Besides the time taken to gather data and collate responses manually, additional specialist staff resources are required by Trusts to maintain the necessary knowledge and expertise to understand ERIC definitions, interpret questions and recent amendments correctly. Data accuracy for returns can easily be compromised by the manual process of data collection – human error can create data inaccuracies such as double counting, accidental errors and omissions and inadvertently provide compromised results and/or benchmarking reports. The lack of audit trails within Trusts for ERIC returns also means that information and processes are generally only retained by a few specific individuals, creating a risk to each organisation.

In 2019, EventMAP’s long experience in the field of automated data gathering led us to an engagement with QTS (a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust) to jointly develop a solution for NHS Trusts that provided a suite of cloud-based tools and processes to drive efficient, transparent and accurate real-time data collection for their ERIC returns.

The resulting ERIC Automation tool has been designed to address and significantly reduce the difficulties and resource burdens required to deliver accurately completed ERIC returns – as well as providing the ability to report in real time and generate calculated returns automatically.

Currently, QTS and EventMAP are seeking to engage with Trusts to advance the project to a full commercial application and we’d welcome further input into areas where the software can support and benefit the streamlining of the ERIC process for Trusts.
