EventMAP completes custom Timetabler implementation for ICAS.

As we’ve recently finished our project for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, it’s definitely time for a news update.‍

First, a little background for those not familiar with the organisation: despite their roots in Scotland, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) has over 20,000 members worldwide working in accountancy in public practice, industry, commerce, the public sector and education. They’re the only UK chartered accountancy body to provide professional education and training, as well as examinations, for students in Scotland, England and the Channel Islands – so their requirements for timetabling software were highly specialised.

After taking a broad overview of the market for timetabling software, ICAS had initially identified our Optime Scheduling Cloud Timetabler product as the closest fit for their requirements, and EventMAP as having the expertise required to customise a system from this that met their needs precisely. We had therefore engaged with ICAS to develop a bespoke implementation of Timetabler.

Besides a requirement for a package that could robustly manage self-enrolment examinations, ICAS required a system that had the ability to manage classes, exams and e-learning modules, download and share timetables, undertake digital attendance monitoring, and produce class and exam attendance reports. They also had specific administrative functionality requirements such as enrolment record monitoring, audit logging and the ability to assume the identity of students and enrol on their behalf – as well as authentication and API requirements.

Development and deployment work is now complete, with very positive feedback so far from ICAS. Administrative staff are finding the whole process of timetabling and planning to be much more efficient, with the increased automation reducing workloads and improving accuracy in exam enrolment and room allocation.

Also, as a result of this partnership with ICAS, EventMAP now have a configuration for Timetabler that’s fully capable of servicing scheduling requirements for organisations that deliver professional and continuing education courses.
