Specialist scheduling at the London College of Beauty Therapy

We’ve been working with the London College of Beauty Therapy for over two years now, producing a customised version of EVENT that’s optimised for curriculum structures in vocational training schools.

This type of scheduling presents many unique challenges that sets it apart from universities and colleges – the courses are much more compact, course modules tend to be comprised of different disciplines that require specific class ordering and room use is usually far more restrictive, owing to their vocational nature. This, in itself, is difficult enough to schedule, but when last minute course and class size changes are added to the mix, it can quickly become a real headache.

Eventmap had identified that a product like EVENT, with its complex algorithmic engine and intuitive interface, could be adapted to make much lighter work of an otherwise tricky process at LCBT. So far, the project is progressing well and the college are delighted with the results so far. A new release of BEAUTY is deploying this week with a further improved user experience and an updated interface – and based on the success of this project, we’ll be giving some serious thought to rolling out an off-the-shelf vocational scheduling product for the college market.
