The 12th PATAT – the International Conference on the Practice and Theory of Automated Timetabling – has just been announced. It’s happening from 28 – 31 August 2018 in Vienna and, as ever, looks set to be one of the highlights of next year’s conference season.

PATAT is held biennially and serves as a forum for an international community of researchers, practitioners and vendors on all aspects of computer-aided timetable generation. It helps bring real world timetabling problems in front of some of the field’s leading academics and forms a crucial interface between the theory of timetabling and its practice on the ground.

At PATAT 2018, researchers and practitioners will be brought together through a number of key presentations and workshops, encompassing a vast range of themes and specialisms within the wider field of timetabling. These include topics such as employee rostering, machine learning, resource capacity planning, timetabling in transport, hyper-heuristics, sports timetabling, educational timetabling, knowledge-based systems, parallel/distributed computing and timetabling in healthcare.

We’re delighted that, once again, EventMAP will be a major sponsor of the conference and that our Managing Director, Dr. Barry McCollum, will be a conference co-chair.
