Success! The Eventmap User Symposium

March 10, 2014

After much planning and preparation, our inaugural User Symposium took place on Friday, February 28th 2014 at Imperial College in London. We were delighted to welcome a strong turnout from our user base, with attendees coming from as far away as Finland for the event.

We began the day with a rundown of where we are with product development and some detail about new features in the latest iterations of Exam and Event. After that we unveiled our star turn – Ian Denny, Head of Student Registry
at Lancaster University. Ian, an experienced Optime user, led attendees in the first of the day’s user workshops. They were a unique opportunity for everyone to share their user experiences and implementations of Exam and Event within their institutions.

After lunch we continued our workshopping and feedback sessions – and Eventmap developer James Donaldson took everyone through the latest version of Portal, our remote timetable viewing solution that’s designed to make light work of viewing and interacting with timetables on portable devices.

So… was it all worth it? The answer from everyone there was a resounding yes – so much so that we’re already planning next year’s user symposium. Our thanks to everyone who helped with the planning of the day, the great staff at Imperial College and, of course, to Ian Denny for hosting the workshops.
