After some successful consultancy work for them last year, we’ve just re-engaged with the University of Bristol in what looks set to be a very interesting new project.

After some successful consultancy work for them last year, we’ve just re-engaged with the University of Bristol in what looks set to be another very interesting project – and which again underlines EventMAP’s strength in providing integrated consultancy and software deployments that enable universities to both deliver long-term cost and planning efficiencies, and create highly productive campuses for both staff and students.
Besides the continued consultancy aspect of this new project, we’ll also be delivering our EVENT software, with additional planning modules, from within our OPTIME suite of tools. This software will enable the university to create extensive ‘what-if’ scenarios around their timetabling and resource usage, allowing them to accurately model the impact of changes to student numbers, decreased or modified resources and student and staff timetable quality measures. This will allow the university to plan for the future with much greater certainty – providing a solid, accurate evidence base for future actions.
EventMAP’s planning tools will function at an executive level and interface with the university’s existing timetabling and scheduling tools, allowing them to add an extra dimension of robust planning and modelling capabilities.
Over time we’ll also be building on our previous strategic examination of the impact of adding new space within the university – with a specific focus on carefully defining ‘zoning’ requirements between departments to minimise out-of-department room use. Besides the obvious benefit of improved consistency of teaching-based locations for students, the work will also inform specific infrastructure requirements to ensure that additional capital programmes deliver exactly the right amount of resource, exactly where it’s needed.
So, effectively, we feel that we’ll again be able to deliver the best of both worlds to one of our university clients: consultancy that gets right to the heart of even the most intractable issues of timetabling, planning and resource management – and software that enables universities to take consultancy learnings from moment-in-time snapshots and turn them into a sustainable mechanism for delivering ongoing efficiency improvements and cost savings.
