Cardinal Newman College Chooses Optime Exam for Managing Invigilation

Cardinal Newman College (CNC) Preston has chosen Optime Exam for managing their diverse and busy exam invigilation schedules.

CNC is an Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’ sixth form college in Lancashire England that is committed to the pursuit of academic excellence, and to the development of a community in which every student reaches their potential. They passionately believe that this can only be achieved if students enjoy their time at college, so they provide a happy, safe and supportive environment for them to thrive.

Running over seventy courses including A-levels, BTEC, T-levels, degree courses, alongside being a centre for teacher training, examinations rate very highly on the college’s scale of critical management tasks.  So, when they recognised the need to find a fast efficient way of managing invigilation for hundreds of different exams throughout the year, they investigated the market and found Optime Exam to be an excellent fit. Especially, when EventMAP offered to work with the college to further enhance aspects of the invigilation function for their needs.

As most of the exams operated by the college are offered by external organisations with preset session dates and times, Optime Exam’s Microsoft Excel Import Template has provided a simple and effective method of importing exams into their designated slots, with rooms and student seating already allocated, leaving just invigilation to be arranged by the system. On demand, data is imported and college staff can either manually assign invigilators for exams based on their “attributes” or the fast, Optime auto-scheduling engine can assign suitably qualified invigilators in seconds. Optime Exam has resolved many complex planning issues for instance differing exam types; online or written, and different levels of invigilators; lead or assistant.
