EventMAP complete resource usage and planning project for the Defence Electronics and Components Agency

A quick update on a project we’ve been working on. We have just completed a resource usage and planning project for the Defence Electronics and Components Agency (DECA), based at MoD Sealand in Flintshire, using our Optime Audit tool.

‍DECA, provides maintenance, repair, overhaul, upgrade, and obsolescence support for a diverse range of avionic, electrical, electronic and general engineering equipment.

The MoD’s long-term requirement, and intent, for DECA is to maximise the Agency’s capability in support of defence. This means that they have a continuing requirement to look for ways to improve business efficiency, including how to absorb increases in the product lines maintained and repaired within its current infrastructure. DECA took the decision to engage EventMAP based on our track record in estate utilisation and optimisation within the MoD, commissioning a study, to survey, evaluate and report proposals for capacity maximisation and planned transformation at Sealand.

EventMAP CEO Dr Barry McCollum noted that the project was of considerable interest to our team of specialists, because of the nature of the space being studied. He said that “the highly specialist nature of space at Sealand required that a variety of metrics be collated to gain an in-depth understanding as to how the space was being utilised, and then to enable us to identify workable solutions”.

‍During the project, EventMAP’s survey team collected a broad set of data from DECA’s Centre of Excellence at Sealand, in North Wales, before analysis, evaluation and reporting. All of the information gathered was analysed using our Optime Audit application. Using the application’s powerful optimisation heuristics to model the data, we produced an evaluation of current utilisation, along with a suite of viable scenarios, setting out DECA’s resource usage and planning options.
