The University is based at the outskirts of Norwich, United Kingdom. The institution provides top quality academic, social, and cultural facilities to over 16,000 students and 3,500 staff. UEA is currently ranked 21st in the Complete University Guide, and is in the top 200 Times Higher Education World University Rankings. It was awarded a gold ranking in The Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) in 2017, and is 10thin the UK for quality of research outputs, and the Top 25 for UK research quality (Times Higher REF 2014 analysis). UEA’s research is embedded in its outstanding teaching and connects its world-leading academics with society, government and industry.
When the University drafted its tender, it sought to establish a route to a system that suited all of their student and staff needs. Their decision was also to be based on a desire to make efficiency gains, enhance the student experience, and improve overall staff satisfaction. In this search for excellence, the University evaluated suppliers against over 80 functional and non-functional requirements. EventMAP scored highly in every category. Additionally, the Optime platform stood out for its attractive user interface, the ability to configure many functions to meet requirements, and the intuitive tools that the solution provides to build the timetable.
Following this award, the University is looking forward to working with EventMAP to deliver this project, despite the challenging timescale, and environment. Overall EventMAP represents a step-change for UEA as it moves to meet staff and student expectations for a modern timetabling and room booking system.
From the outset, the University was looking for a contemporary, cloud based, integrated suite of curriculum, exam and room booking tools. They recognised that the chosen solution needed to be comprehensive in its capacity to manage and optimise resource management while offering ease of use, flexibility in deployment, and integration to the University’s existing information systems landscape. These were challenging aims, but ultimately the University was keen to find a fit for purpose toolset which would enable and support the current transformation opportunities arising from a range of institutional initiatives aimed at bettering the student experience while enriching the University’s offering for all.
Yes, the result was that the EventMAP Optime offering stood tall. As a result of this award, Optime Timetabler, Exam, and Booker, will now be rolled out on a sitewide basis.
